Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene Saffo, on Sunday 24th October 2021, officiated a divine service at Kpotame congregation in the Sogakope district of the Volta South Apostle area with over 200 members in attendance. The Lead Apostle was accompanied by Apostle Anthony Kuada (Volta South) and Apostle Richard Senyo Osei (Volta Central). He based his sermon on Acts 24:16 “This being so, I myself always strive to have a conscience without offense towards God and men”
“My dearly beloved brothers and sisters, today is another beautiful Sunday in our lives. A day when we can come into the house of the Lord to receive the blessings which He has prepared for us. Sunday is a good and special day for us all; because we do not walk into the house of the Lord to show that we are Christians, we are not here because we want to see people talk to us, but we are here because we want the Lord to bless us”, the Lead Apostle began his sermon.
The Lead Apostle urged the congregants to walk into the house of God with cheerful hearts no matter the circumstances surrounding them; for we do not know what tomorrow will bring. “Our sins will be forgiven when we come into the house of God, and that is something we cannot get anywhere or buy with money”. The covenant between us and God is another free gift. The sacrifice of His son Jesus Christ; that whosoever shall partake in the body and blood of Jesus Christ shall have eternal life and shall be raised on the last day is yet again another free gift. “We can partake in these free blessings only if we come into the house of God not considering the sins we have committed nor considering whom we are, for we have entered into the house of God.”
Regarding the Bible text, the people at that time judged Apostle Paul based on their own understanding and not on the principles of Jesus Christ. They had a conscience full of offenses and without faith, hence accused Apostle Paul. Lead Apostle Saffo made the congregants aware that emphasis should be made on the doctrine and principles of Jesus Christ and not anyone else.
Apostle Paul who was taken to the high Priests for committing an offense and by his defense, made them understand that as human beings, you need to have a conscience. “Conscience is a gift of the Father in heaven and that the ability to make decisions is a gift of the Father in heaven. Only human beings have a conscience”, the Lead Apostle urged the congregants to be mindful of their conscience in every step that they take in life. “What does your conscience tell you before taking a step?” He quizzed.
The Lead Apostle concluded: “Beloved, let us have a good conscience towards the Father in heaven, let us be committed to Him for Christ will come to take us home.”
