As part of Apostle Anthony Kuada’s mission to reach out to teach, baptize and provide soul care to 53 members in the village of Alabonu, under the Battor District of the Volta South Apostle Area, he had to cross the Volta lake in a canoe, with other ministers and members, under the guidance of a fisher man.
Alabonu is a small community located at the bank of the Volta river in the North Tongu district of the Volta region, Ghana. The people of Alabonu are mainly farmers and fishermen.
Prior to the divine service, the Apostle together with the District Rectors, met the youth on Saturday 11th September, 2021, to discuss issues on:
* Youth in marriage
* Youth engagement in church development
* Social life of the youth
* Importance of attending youth programmes
* Youth organization (congregational level, district and apostle area levels).
On Sunday, 12th September, 2021, Apostle Kuada officiated a divine service based on the text word 1 Peter 2:1-3, ‘Now this is the word which by the gospel was preached to you. Therefore, laying aside all malice, all guile, hypocrisy, envy, and all evil speaking, as newborn babes, desire the pure milk of the word, that you may grow thereby, if indeed you have tasted that the Lord is gracious’.
The Apostle began: “Indeed it is well with our soul. Beloved, I give thanks to God and I know you do as well. It is by the grace of God we find ourselves where we are” The Apostle congratulated the members and minister of Alabonu congregation for keeping the Church alive and that God is with His own always.
The grace of God with promise
It can sometimes be difficult to believe the teachings concerning the grace of God. Thus, many had gone to earn a living rather than attend the divine service. The issue of the grace is not of physical, but of spirit, said the Apostle. He explained that every soul will appear before the Lord in spirit and so everything we do physically will rot and fade away. He also explained that the statement “seek first the Kingdom of God and all other things shall be added”, is a guarantee that we shall inherit the Kingdom of God as was promised man if we heed that call.
Things of this world
It is true we must work in order to survive physically. But it is also true that all we labour for physically would not take us to the Kingdom of God, said the Apostle. He said man tends to pay more attention to acquiring physical wealth, even to the extent of killing his fellow human and speaking evil against the fellow human. The Apostle advised the congregants to do as the Bible says, that is, to lay aside all malice, hypocrisy, envy and all manner of evil thoughts against a fellow human so as to be free to walk in the Spirit. “These are the things heavily burdening us yet would not lead us into eternal comfort”, said the Apostle.
The pure milk
Apostle Kuada urged the members to desire for the pure milk of the word. He said the pure word is always preached at the altar of grace in the various congregations across the globe. The universe was created with the Word, without which nothing was created. He also asked the members to always have faith and believe in the ministers ordained by the Apostles of Jesus Christ and avoid false doctrines propagated by others.
The Apostle also encouraged the congregants to keep their faith for the return of Jesus Christ also not to use distance or the river as an excuse for not attending divine services. Apostle Kuada asked the members to love one another and wait on the Lord, as he concludes.
The divine service was assisted by District Rector Thomas Afun, Deputy District Rectors Jerry Akorligle and Senyo Amedofu.
