A traditional Easter Service, a choral evening and an Easter Monday Children’s service; that is how the Kumasi Central Congregation celebrated the first Easter following the Covid-19 pandemic. These celebrations were led by Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya, as he reminded the faithful about the once brought eternally valid sacrifice of the Lord Jesus whose resurrection gives us the hope for our own resurrection. Apostle Amos Osei-Du and the District Rectors assisted the Lead Apostle.
Victory Over Death!
With a sermon on the resurrection of Christ, on Easter Sunday 3rd April, the Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya celebrated the Easter Sunday with brothers and sisters of Kumasi Central Congregation. The bible passage was read from 1 Corinthians 15: 20, “but now Christ is risen from the dead, and he has become the first fruits of those who have fallen asleep”.
The Lord is risen: The Leader explained that the death and the resurrection of Christ was unique and valid into eternity. He explained that among those who have fallen asleep, there was none that laid down his life with a promise to rise on the third day, which indeed happened, and promised an eternal life to His followers; only Jesus, the Christ. His death and resurrection have become the foundation of our faith and that gives us the hope for our resurrection on the day of the Lord.
The hope for our resurrection: He further elaborated that the Lord Jesus’ resurrection gives us hope for our resurrection. That in the twinkle of an eye, we shall meet the Lord in Heaven. He added that the ‘wings’ with which we must fly to meet the Lord must be developed today. “Let us faithfully serve the Lord and give off our best.”
He concluded: “Let us not live like those who are in the world but rather conduct our lives as Christians. Our goal must be to lead them to Christ and not the other way round. Let us keep the faith and remain faithful”.
An Easter Choral Evening in a pandemic
Choristers singing joyfully with their mouths covered! That was the miracle of Easter at Kumasi Central. The Lead Apostle witnessed a special choral evening where the choir and orchestra performed to the admiration of all. This came off later in the day to celebrate the season of Easter.
