Sunday school children welcome the Lead Apostle
1 May 2021

Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya conducted a divine service on Sunday, 18th April, 2021 at the Boako Central Church (Boako District) of the Wiawso Apostle Area of the New Apostolic Church, Ghana. He also blessed a marriage between Sister Esther Ama Fosua Addae and Brother Richard Oppong.

“You are all welcome to this special divine service of which everyone here is going to be a witness for the great union between these two christians. I am most grateful and filled with joy for this special day. It is my prayer and hope that this unforgotten day shall be a blessing to all of us gathered here”. These were the introductory words the lead Apostle said as he began his divine service.

The text word for the service was taken from Genesis 24:50-51, “Then Laban and Bethuel answered and said, “The thing comes from the Lord. We cannot speak to you either bad or good. Here is Rebecca before you; take her and go, and let her be your master’s son’s wife, as the Lord has spoken”.

Explaining the text word, he began “Abraham was growing old and needed a wife for his son Isaac. He vowed not to marry from Cannan but rather marry someone from his family in Mesopotania. Eliza then also agreed to go and marry for his master’s son. Abraham never told Eliza the kind of woman he was going to marry for his son. Eliza then prayed to God, to show him the rightful lady for his master’s son. Brethren, I tell you all that never do anything without consulting God, for he knows everything hindering you.

The Lead Apostle continued, “After Eliza had prayed to God to show him the right woman for his master’s son, he waited patiently for the right time and behold, as he waited, there comes Rebecca with her pot on her shoulder, coming to fetch water for her parents. Eliza then asked her for a drink, and Rebecca served him and his ten camels with water. Eliza then thanked God for answering his prayers by showing him the right woman.”

He continued: “Brethren, many a time, most of you think your prayers take long in being answered. I tell you, be patient; God does things in His right time. Be patient and God will answer your prayers. Also, I tell you, hard work also pays. After your prayers unto-the Lord, work hard towards it. Rebecca worked hard and gained a favour from the Lord”.

Eliza asked Rebecca to send him to her parent, there he met Laban and Bethel, Rebecca`s uncle. Then Eliza said ‘I have come to marry your daughter for my master`s son.’ Laban and Bethuel said, ‘We know this is from God, who are we to challenge what God has said. You can go with Rebecca.’

God knows what is always good for His children. Laban and Bethuel never challenged what God has planned for Rebecca, therefore you should also not try to give excuses or to be selective as to who should marry your son or daughter. Always play to God and when the answer is given do not hesitate.”

Bringing his service to an end, he advised the new couple to “Let love prevail” in their new union. They should ask God for directives in all things and also ask God for answers in terms of need. “May God bless you and strengthen you, bless your new home and fill your home with children.”

The service was supported by Apostle Hayford Nzima (Wiawso Apostle Area) and District Elder Yaw Enin (Wiawso  District).
