Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya being welcomed by sisters from the Sunday School
25 February 2021

On Sunday, 17th January 2021, Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya paid a working visit to the Debiso District of the Wiawso Apostle area in the Western-North Region of Ghana. This marked his first visit to the Apostle area since the beginning of the year 2021. The Northern Ghana leader conducted a united divine service for ten congregations at the premises of Sefwi Yawmatwa congregation.

The text word for the service was taken from Hebrews 2:11, “For both he who sanctifies and those who are being sanctified are all of one, for which reason he is not ashamed to them brethren”.

Explaining the text word, he said, “Many a time, Christians mistaken the saying; ‘cleanliness is next to godliness.’ But I tell you today, that cleanliness has nothing to do with righteousness”

Cleanliness
“Beloved brothers and sisters, as I entered into this premises, I could see the place has been swept, trees are well trimmed and pruned nicely. The altar had been decorated with a nice bouquet of flowers. Everyone here, both young and old are nicely dressed in your anniversary clothes with elegant scented perfumes. You are all seated beautifully with your nose mask. That is cleanliness. Brethren, this is quite different from righteousness”, emphasised the Lead Apostle.

Righteousness
“Righteousness is being holy and goes with the Holy Spirit”, said Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya. “Righteousness is what we inherit from Jesus Christ: the only person who never sinned.” He continued: “He was conceived by the virgin Mary. He was righteous because He did the will of the Lord. So brethren, I tell you today, for you to be righteous, you have to do the will of the Lord thereby. Thus, let us stay away from sin.”

The journey of righteousness starts with Holy baptism, Holy communion and Holy sealing. If we eat and drink the body and blood of the Lord Jesus Christ, then we are minded to live the life of a righteous person. There is no connection between darkness and light, hence any person who wants to be righteous should desist from things of the dark.

To Be Called Brother
Jesus said, those who sanctify and who are being sanctified are all one. The love of our Lord Jesus has brought us under one umbrella, that we are one in the name of Christ. For this reason, our Lord is not ashamed to call His brothers. “Brethren, our Lord is holy and righteous, so if we want to be called brethren by our Lord Jesus Christ, then we need to be righteous.”

Believe in Christ
God does not discriminate. His love is for all that trust and believe in Him. “Things may seem to go wayward, but there is time for everything. Hold on to your faith and have trust in the Lord that He is capable of doing anything” concluding the Lead Apostle said... “Let us remember, the core aim of every Christian is to get a secured place for our soul when we leave this earth. Strive hard to live a righteous life to enable you be part of the family of Christ.”

The service was supported by Apostle Hayford Nzimah (Wiawso Apostle Area), District Elder Yaw Enin (Wiawso Disrtict), District Elder Addae (Boako District) and District Elder Oppong (Debiso District).
