An experience of a special visit it was on Sunday 10th January 2021, when Bishop Charles Kesse of Konongo Apostle area joined brothers and sisters of Kumasi Central Congregation to officiate a Holy Matrimony between Sister Comfort Nti Acheampong and brother Richmond Yeboah.
He was assisted by District Rector Nantwi Boadu, District Evangelist Kwasi Gyimah Boateng and Congregational Rector Dennis Asibuo. In attendance were One thousand and ninety- six members and guests.
The bible passage for the service was read from Philippians 4:8 “Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy - meditate on these things”
“I will praise the Lord as long as I live!” With these words from the song, ‘Almighty God, how wondrous is thy works’, the Bishop began the sermon on thoughts of praise to the Lord always, and not only when things go well for us. “Our Heavenly Father knows everything and He permits whatever He so desires. If we appreciate God and remain faithful for the life and grace He bestows upon us, we will receive more from Him. Let us indeed praise the Lord as long as we live. He has blessed us with different gifts of talents and what is important is to ‘trade with’ these talents so that when the Master returns, He will reward us for our faithfulness to Him”.
Whatever things that are true.
With reference to Proverbs 12:17, ‘He who speaks truth declares righteousness, but a false witness, deceit’, the Bishop admonished members to remain truthful always as children of God even at the perils of our lives. He said John remained faithful and testified about the death, resurrection and the ascension of Jesus Christ when he was threatened with death sentence. The glory and protection of the Lord are always with those who remain faithful to him.
Show the love of God to everyone
He admonished members to demonstrate the love of God to our neighbours, and even to those we consider as our enemies: “Our duty is to pray for them and draw them closer to the Lord. Do not seek for the death of your enemies but rather pray for their salvation as Jesus admonished us. Let us not pay evil with evil but pay evil with good.”
Strive for things that are of good report
As Christians, can reports about our conduct in this life give good account about us? Do we radiate the glory of God wherever we are? The Bishop asked. He admonished the members to let their conduct be worthy of our election and that the good report about our lives will lead us into the glory that awaits us in future.
Allow the Lord to lead you in your marriage
To the marriage couple, Bishop Kesse advised them to allow God to lead them in their marriage and be an example in love and truth. “Let there be good reports about your marriage so that others can learn from you.”
In conclusion, the Bishop wished the members well in this new year and advised them to pursue whatever things are true, noble, just, pure and are of good report; and to remain faithful as we await the return of our Lord Jesus Christ.
