On the occasion of Thanksgiving Day, District Rectors Ebenezer Adjei and Thomas Afun led the special divine service at the congregations of Osu (Accra East district) and Aveyime (Battor district) respectively. In both sermons, the overwhelming nature and power of God in His creation and works were espoused.
O Lord, how manifold are Your works!
The service at Osu was inspired by the words of Psalm 104:24, ‘O Lord, how manifold are Your works! In wisdom You have made them all. The earth is full of Your possessions’. In a thankful and adorative manner, the Accra East district leader led the congregation to acknowledge the awesome works of God and the wisdom in His creations.
Acknowledging the purpose of this special day as one set aside to give thanks to our Father “for the things He has done and things He continues to do” for us, he said:
* “The Lord’s works are so many and we must continue to glorify the Lord” he said. We must eternally be thankful for our food, our health, His spiritual and physical protection as well as the times and seasons. We must also be thankful for the energy and strength of the ministry to proclaim the gospel and acts of blessings.
* God’s wisdom is manifested in His creations. The bible tells us “The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep.” However, He separated the heavens from the earth and the waters from the dry land. He created day and night, and called the plants into being; all of these were done for our sakes, so we shall not lack anything.
* The District leader went on to highlight God’s plan for man to dominate His creations and multiply to fill the earth. The Lord knew of the reproduction of man and provided enough for mankind.
“And so we must glorify our Heavenly Father for all we have seen, all we know and all we have witnessed” urged District Rector Adjei.
The invisible might of God are clearly seen
At Aveyime, District Rector Afun based his sermon the Romans “For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead, so that they are without excuse”.
The Battor district leader thanked the congregation for showing appreciation to the Lord by recognizing what He has done for them in the offerings of their harvested produce at the altar.
He urged the members to always praise the Lord in all things and also remember that the Lord is with them at all times, even in their difficult moments.
District Elder Afun also encouraged members to extend a helping hand to their neighbours in need and to do so with a divine heart. Doing so will attract God’s blessings and protection, he said.
