On the 23rd day of August, 2020, Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya held a divine service in Techiman Central church in Techiman Apostle Area where he spoke on the need to revere our gathering in the church with one accord.
The text word for the service was taken from Acts 1:13-14, “And when they were come in, they went up into an upper room, where abode both Peter and James, and john, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Mathew, James the son of Alphaeus, and Simon Zelotes, and Judas the brother of James. These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren”.
“My beloved brethren, my visit here today was unexpected but it is never a surprise because it is the same way our Lord and Saviour Jesus shall return” Lead Apostle began by uttering these words. He said “My beloved brothers and sisters, just as other previous pandemics have varnished so shall this pandemic (Covid-19) which has occurred during our era also varnish”.
The Lead Apostle, elaborating on the text word, said the disciples went into the upper room which in our recent times is the Temple of God where we pray and fellowship but not to eat, sell or lead an unholy life. The disciples went into the upper room to pray and receive the Holy Spirit which was been promised them by the Lord Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit would give them the strength to carry on with the work of God.
Comparing this to our recent times, we are also in a waiting period, hence we have to frequently visit ‘our upper room’ which is the Temple of God where our strength comes from. Though we pray in our various homes, our prayers when we meet as a family in fellowship together with our praises glorify the Most High God and serve us encouragement to another.
God’s grace and mercies have not changed although we are in this pandemic period; He has protected and led us to the eighth month of the year 2020, He still gives us rainfall, sunshine and His blessings.
Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya concluded by saying that man relies on three things in this life; his Lord, family and faith. These three things are not to be taken for granted. The Lord has been our Saviour and Shield, our family also gives us a sense of belongingness. Thirdly, we live by faith. Without faith, we cannot inherit the Kingdom of God.
Apostle Paul Kyeremeh and District Rector Emmanuel Aduo assisted the service.
