Apostle George Sam washing his hands before entering the Church at Adansi
22 August 2020

“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion! Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem! Behold, your King is coming to you. Yes, this is the day the LORD has made; We will rejoice and be glad in it.” Those were the opening remarks of Apostle George Sam of the Takoradi Apostle Area as he visited the Krofofrom District and held two separate Divine Services at Adansi and Edaa Congregation with District Rector Kyei on the 16th of August 2020.

Be A Witness

At Adansi congregation, Apostle Sam based his sermon on I John 5:7-8, ‘For there are three that bear witness in heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: The Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one.’

Let's Love. Apostle Sam informed the congregation on how in recent times our Chief Apostle has sent encouraging words to help us prepare ourselves in difficult times for the return of Christ. The Takoradi Area leader inspired the congregation to emulate the love of Christ as mentioned in Matthew 25:40 when the disciples were urged to show love to everyone. He told the congregation that God is everywhere. “Sometimes it can be difficult to sense His presence in environments you are not used to, or when you encounter a stranger in need. Keep your heart open and share his love with everyone – it is the right thing to do.”

Be Good. Apostle Sam said we should not give up in doing good for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap, and if we want happiness we should look onto God because He owns everything and is the creator of heaven and earth.

The Three Things. The Apostle told the congregation about the rebirth and the new creation which are very essential for every human being. He said if we want to inherit the kingdom of God we must be witnesses of the Gospel on earth so we can also be borne witness of in heaven.  We must have a renewed mind and we should let others call us by our new name because we came from old Adam to new Adam. Apostle Sam concluded by saying we should have faith in God and be witnesses to His words.

Feed on The Word

In Edaa congregation, Apostle George Sam read from the book of Hebrew 4:12, ‘For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.’

Apostle Sam said we are spiritual beings, created to live by and feed on the Word of God. Jesus said, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God” (Matthew. 4:4). In other words, although we must feed our bodies and relate to our world and those around us, it cannot sustain our lives. Only His words can satisfy and give us the strength and wisdom to live above the corruption in the world. “So, what are you feeding on?” he asked. “If your focus and passion are not God’s word, you will never be satisfied. Those other areas will begin to dominate your life and leave you unfulfilled and stressed. A spirit that is nourished on God’s words will produce life and peace (Romans. 8:6).”

Apostle Sam ended the sermon by saying its only God's words that can sustain us, “It is food to our soul.”
