It was so exciting and lovely when Lead Apostles Oppong-Brenya and Ohene-Saffo, as well as Apostles Asampong and Boakye (host Apostle) celebrated a special divine service on 18th January, 2020, at the Nkawkaw Central Church to introduce the new Lead Apostle for the Nkawkaw Apostle Area following the changes in country support. Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya officially handed over the working area to Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo on this occasion. The service was led by Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo.
The text word for the occasion was taken from Romans 8:15, ‘For the spirit that God has given you does not make you slaves and cause you to be afraid; instead the spirit makes you God’s children, and by the spirit's power we cry out to God, “Father! My Father!” ’
In his opening remarks, Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo warmly thanked the congregation for sacrificing their work and time to celebrate this festive divine service on an unusual but highly business day. He encouraged the congregants to continue to remain focused on their service to God.
Elaborating on the text word, the Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo compared the era of worshipping God under the law of the prophets to the worship of God under the grace of our Lord Jesus, which we experience now. He encouraged congregants not to fear because Christians are no longer under the bondage of laws to live by, which creates fear among people.
He added that Jesus Christ came to redeem mankind from such laws and so Christians must love God instead of fearing Him. He further explained that if someone loves God, it will be very difficult to sin against Him. However, if someone fears God, that person walks with some arrogance and often thinks only a sacrifice of a sheep is required should he offend God; there is no genuine penitence.
He continued that the grace now abounds, and so there is no need of sacrifices. “Brethren just love with the whole of your heart. This is what Christians must do. Some Christians have been deceived by today’s prophets and still worship under the law. Jesus has set us free! Jesus Christ has redeemed mankind.”
Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo further added that Christ died for mankind for the forgiveness of our sins and that is why it is necessary as a New Apostolic to attend communion regularly.
The service was supported by Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya, Apostle Boakye (Nkawkaw area) and Apostle Asampong (Koforidua area).
