“I am grateful we are together today to hear the word of God, to express our gratitude through our offerings, to receive grace through the absolution, to renew and strengthen our bond with Jesus in holy communion and to partake in the blessings that fill the house of the Lord”, remarked Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo as he celebrated the divine service on Sunday, January 26, 2020, at the Hohoe congregation in the Volta North Apostle Area. Over 560 brothers and sisters participated in the divine service.
The Lead Apostle read a text from Colossians 3:16, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord.”
In his elaboration, the Lead Apostle stated that, the Lord chose His Apostles and gave them the commission to proclaim His word in its purity. According to him, the Apostles of Christ do not teach their own words; but that which the Lord Jesus Christ has taught them. The Lead Apostle emphasized that, he who hears, believes and live by that which the Apostles proclaim, is he who has allowed the word of Christ to dwell in him.
He admonished members to place on their election as children of God, who are being prepared through the words of Christ for the Kingdom of Heaven. “We are not ordinary people. We are God’s special people, called and chosen! Let the word of God – the words of the Apostles – dwell in you and let it define your nature, however difficult and painful it may be” he averred.
“Let us put the word of God into use, let it dwell in us and define our conduct and relationship with others; for in it we are prepared for the kingdom of heaven” concluded the Lead Apostle.
Apostle Timothy Akubia and District Rector Alexander Poku-Akubia assisted the divine service.
