Our God is love! In the beginning, God created earth, and placed man above all things in the Garden of Eden. Yet, despite his selfish desires and removal from the Garden, God still promised redemption, and inheritance to man at the end of time. Apostle Ohene-Saffo explained this message of hope and promise to 426 souls at the Madina congregation on 24th November 2019.
The sermon was based on the text word Revelation 21:6-7: ‘And He said to me, “It is done! I am the Alpha and the Omega, the Beginning and the End. I will give of the fountain of the water of life freely to him who thirsts. He who overcomes shall inherit all things, and I will be his God and he shall be My son.’
The consequence of our desires. Man was glorious in the Garden of Eden, but we exchanged our glory and relationship with God for our selfish desires. This is still evident today. The Apostle pronounced: “Up till today, our desires take us further away from the Lord. And mankind is leaning more on his desires than the desires of the Lord.”
Our God is loving. Sharing the loving nature of God, he said: “Our God that we serve is love. He loves us so much. Even in the Garden of Eden, as He evicted Adam & Eve, He gave them a promise”. The Lord promised man a Saviour of our own kind, to overcome the devil much to our relief. “However, as the years went by” the Apostle continued, “man-kind forgot, but the Lord had not forgotten this promise.”
Our will and desire for redemption. There is a need for us to desire to seek salvation on our own free will. Out of our free will, the Lord will give us redemption from our sinful states. “Our knowledge of the bible and Jesus Christ will not give us the water of life. We need to drink of that Water of life” said Apostle Ohene-Saffo.
What, and where is this Water of life? The Apostle gave answers: “The source of this Water is the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the Holy Spirit given to us. Except we drink of the Holy Spirit, we cannot say to have the Water of life. This Holy Spirit is embedded in the Apostles’ ministry.” Our desire to drink the Water of life (follow and practice the teachings of the Apostles) will give us eternal life through the Holy Spirit.
Our promise of inheritance. Our quest for earthly treasures cannot be compared to our perpetual inheritance with the Father. He urged the congregation: “The kind of inheritance in the kingdom of God will be with us forever, because of our eternal lives.” We must take charge and protect the Holy Spirit given us by the Apostles, so as not to bequeath the promise of our eternal lives and inheritance at the end of time.
Apostle Ohene-Saffo was supported by Bishop Asare, District Elders Dinkelacker (Germany), Kpegasin (Nigeria) and Obama (Equitorial Guinea), as well as Priest Salvador (Equitorial Guinea).
