In an insightful yet moving divine service, the Apostle for the Accra Working area, Benjamin Ohene-Saffo, reminded members of the congregation at Tema, of our responsibility as New Apostolics to share the truth with the world; the gospel of Jesus and the Apostles’ doctrine. This came off in the morning of Sunday 17th November 2019.
His sermon was based on the text word Zechariah 8:20-21: “Thus says the Lord of hosts: ‘Peoples shall yet come, inhabitants of many cities; the inhabitants of one city shall go to another, saying, “Let us continue to go and pray before the Lord, and seek the Lord of hosts. I myself will go also.”
A revealing message of tolerance, sympathy, responsibility and faith were key points of Apostle Ohene-Saffo’s sermon.
We know the truth, share to the world. We receive blessings in the Word and forgiveness of sins at divine services, something the world cannot receive. “Brethren, we cannot blame the world, because they are yet to know the truth. You and I are fortunate, we have come to know the truth. Our responsibility is to let the world know what we have received. There is only one truth, one way and life, and that is what we have received.”
A worshipping, but lost people. The Apostle advised the congregation to be tolerant and sympathise with other faiths. “There are people out there who through no fault of theirs worship God as they do. They believe and adore the Father in heaven, some are even holier than we are. The problem about their worshipping…not one has a promise attached!”
The only faith with a promise. Our following and belief in the gospel and doctrine of Jesus Christ is the only faith with a promise. “The Lord Jesus is the only one to say ‘I have come from the Father’, for which reason He said ‘I am the way, the truth and the life, no one goes to the Father except through Me.’ Because He knows everything that was given in the old commandments, which no longer is necessary and cannot be practiced.” “Obedience to the commandments only makes you good and not perfect!” said Apostle Ohene-Saffo.
Grace through the Apostles’ ministry. The grace of salvation abounds in the Apostles’ doctrine. A humble and repentant heart, rebirth and newness of mind through water and Spirit, and celebration of Holy Communion in the fellowship of the Apostles gives us perfection.
The church of the Lord Jesus Christ, the new and spiritual Jerusalem, is built on the ministry of the Apostles (as evidenced in Matthew 16). “Let us go out there and tell them. Invite the world, the kingdom of Heaven is very close. If you are already in there, let another person be a part of it.” He concluded, “If you are a blessed person, be a blessing onto another, so we can all make it into the kingdom of Heaven.”
District Elder Adjei, District Evangelist Amoah and Shepherd Boateng assisted the Apostle. Twenty-five (25) souls were also holy sealed by Apostle Ohene-Saffo.
