The New Apostolic Church observes a day of thanksgiving to God each year. Members on this day, express their gratitude to God for the material, spiritual blessings and gifts obtained from God. On the occasion of Thanksgiving 2019, celebrated on the 6th of October, the congregations in the Volta North Apostle area could not be left out. Apostle Timothy Akubia celebrated the day with the over 105 members of the Hohoe congregation.
The service was based on a text from 2 Corinthians 9:8 “And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work”.
“My dear brothers and sisters, I am filled with joy to be with you today. Thank you all for your sacrifices, prayers and numerous contributions towards God’s work. Let each one also take their salvation seriously and ensure we remain to the end”, stated the Apostle as he opened the service.
Elaborating on the text, the Apostle reminded the members of the abundant grace of God that has been upon us from our mothers’ womb till date. He recounted the material and spiritual gifts we obtained from God out of sheer grace. “God created all things for the wellbeing of man, He delivers us from the evil one. He gave us a family, grants us peace.” stressed the Apostle. He further stated that our election as children of God is a great gift and blessing from God.
The Apostle entreated the members to respond to the blessings of God with gratitude out of truthful hearts, and to perform good works. He entreated the members to avoid sin, share their gifts with others, to forgive one another and love their God and neighbour. This, he a said, constitutes an expression of gratitude and good works.
The Apostle was assisted by District Rector Christopher Xa and Priest Confidence Pataku.
