In the afternoon of Saturday 21st September 2019, Apostle Timothy Akubia (Volta North Apostle Area), officiated an open air youth service at Borae No. 2, in the Krachi/Bimbilla District.
The Apostle read a text from Galatians 2:20 (NKJV): “……it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me”.
“We are gathered here to share in the love of God and essentially to also have our sins forgiven. I welcome you all dear young people and also our adults who have made it a point to be part of this service. I also wish to thank you all for your prayers and sacrifice”, remarked the Apostle as he opened the service.
In his elaboration, the Apostle reminded the youth that as children of God, we live in the world. However, our lives belong to Christ, and as such our conduct must reflect the nature of Christ.
The Apostle further advised against selfishness of all kinds. He entreated the youth to avoid the situation where personal interests are so paramount that it becomes detrimental to society, nature and our neighbour. “The fact that you need to survive, does not mean you should destroy your neighbour and the natural gifts God provided for the benefit of all” stressed the Apostle.
According to him, anyone in whom Christ lives would put the interest of others first, cultivate the habit of sharing and caring for others more than himself. “If Christ lives in us and rules our lives, then we shall love the church more than ourselves. We would be ready to sacrifice for the growth of the church, the well-being of the congregation shall preoccupy our souls”.
The Apostle urged the members to share with others their gifts and blessings just as Christ did. “You are blessed to be a blessing, let the life of Christ fill you, eschew selfishness and care for others.” concluded the Apostle.
The Apostle was assisted by District Rector Peter Akai. As part of the service, Deacon Joseph Osei was ordained Priest.
