On Sunday 7th July 2019, Apostle Paul Yaw Kyeremeh (Techiman Apostle Area) led the service for the departed at Kintampo in the Bono-East Region. Nearly 150 members including children and a retired minister were in attendance to observe the service for the departed.
The text word for the service was taken from Ezekiel 34:12 ‘As A shepherd seeketh out his flock in the day that he is among his sheep that are scattered; so will I seek out my sheep, and will deliver them out of all places where they have been scattered in the cloudy and dark day’.
The Apostle began his sermon by admonishing the congregation to be guided and shielded by the behaviour and life of Christ to leave a good legacy as Christians. “My beloved brothers and sisters in Christ, our legacy is what we have leave behind when we depart to the beyond. What will we be remembered for in our community, our church, or workplaces?”
Apostle Kyeremeh went on to elaborate on the text word by recounting a true life story of a man who died lonely having been cast away by his family due to his continuous state of drunkenness. This man died neither feeling loved and encouraged by his family members or community. He also never had the chance to hear the message of the Gospel of salvation to inspire a change of heart and belief in Jesus Christ.
In summing up, the Apostle highlighted that many have died in similar situations. And many have died without an opportunity for eternal salvation. “The service for the departed is conducted to intercede for such people who died in their deeds.”
Assisting ministers were District Elder Konadu Addae, District Evangelist Owusu Nicholas Rector for the congregation, Shepherd Amankwaa, Community Evangelists Agyei and Twene. After the service, a presentation was made to retired Priest Koomson Addereh for his selfless dedication to the ministry.
