Apostle George Sam at Antseambua congregation Altar
16 July 2019

On the 7th of July 2019, Apostle George Sam of the Takoradi Apostle Working Area held the divine service for the Departed at Beposo District with two congregations; Adiembra and Antseambua congregations.

Hope in Christ for the departed

At Antseambua congregation, Apostle Sam based his sermon on Psalm 57:1, ‘Be merciful to me, O God, be merciful to me! For my soul trusts in you; And in the shadow of your wings I will make my refuge, until these calamities have passed by.’

Dwelling on the text word, Apostle Sam encouraged the congregation to show love to one another and believe in Jesus Christ as David did when Saul was persecuting him.  Apostle Sam asked, “If the living are suffering and complaining what about the dead? Aren’t they also having problems in the realm of beyond?”

The Apostle, preaching to the 105 gathered souls, emphasized that just as David’s life was in danger, so do our dear brothers and sisters in the beyond feel. We need to pray and intercede for them and we can only achieve this by believing in the resurrection and saving power of Jesus Christ.

Apostle Sam was assisted by District Elder Samuel Nkansah.

Compassion for the departed
In Adiembra congregation of 28 souls, Apostle George Sam read from the book of Mark 6:34,
‘And Jesus, when He came out, saw a great multitude and was moved with compassion for them, because they were like sheep not having a shepherd.’
Elaborating on the text word Apostle Sam said Jesus Christ disliked discrimination hence He entreats each one to reach out for the all lost souls.

The Apostle in bringing his sermon to a close highlighted that just as we seek and comfort some people in this world who are in hardship, difficulties and in slavery, it is same in the realm of the departed. We need to search for such souls and give them comfort through our intercessory prayers and firm belief in Christ.

Apostle Sam was assisted by District Elder Samuel Nkansah and Rector, Priest Charles Assan.
