Aflao Youth Group celebrated the 10th Anniversary of its revival on 22nd April, 2019 at the Aflao church premises. The event coincided with their yearly get-together on Easter Monday being the climax of programmes lined up for the Easter. Some members from sister congregations in the Sogakope District of the Volta South Apostle Area (Metsrikasa, Amedzikope, Tsavanya, Tsigbene, Kpotame and Avalavi) were in attendance. Evangelist Nelson Sonkro presided over the function.
The series of activities for the day included Memory Verse recitals from the Holy Bible and Poetry Recitals by the Sunday School Children. A Choral Concert and Choreography was staged by the Youth.
Mr. P. K. Kordorwu, the special guest, and Sister Olivia Tettey offered words of advice to both the males and females respectively. The talks were centred on attributes of the youth towards their personality growth and sustainable development. Priest Sampson Nukporfe, the District Youth chairman, reviewed the strengths and weaknesses of the youth and mapped out strategies for future improvements.
Speaking on the theme “Youth Mingle”, District Evangelist Simon Goka, the guest speaker, quoted a portion of John 17:22 “… that they may be one, even as we are one” and explained the importance of togetherness of the youth as one family and children of God. He said that the physical and spiritual benefits of unity are enormous. He urged the youth to meet regularly, study the doctrine and share relevant ideas. He also asked them to be innovative, prayerful, generous and strengthen each other with the word of God. District Evangelist Goka finally cautioned the youth against premature and illegal marriage as well as social vices that did not glorify God, but bring the name of Christ into disrepute.
