"We are ready"
29 April 2019

In the spirit of the annual Easter Monday tradition of the Accra Apostle Area, 273 Sunday School children of the Accra East and West districts celebrated this year’s Children’s Day in a splendid and memorable fashion. Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo together with both district leaders and their rectors were in attendance. The former Apostle for Accra who began this tradition, Peregrino Kotei Afutu, was also in attendance as a special guest.

The occasion, which began around 11 AM with an opening prayer by District Elder Ebenezer Adjei (Accra East), also gave the children the opportunity to be part of the 50th anniversary celebrations. The children from all 20 congregations marched in with entry songs and set themselves on stage to render songs in harmony, to the surprise and delight of their parents and the audience. The Ga-Dangme Sunday School also performed a lovely choreography.

Each congregation’s Sunday School choir delivered 3 songs each. Thereafter, each district saw their children in a united district Sunday School choir deliver some amazing renditions of hymns to the audience.

Apostle Ohene-Saffo in his remarks highlighted that the purpose of the occasion was to grow Sunday School choirs in the various districts and form a firm foundation for the future of the church by actively involving all age groups. Apostle Kotei Afutu (retired) in his special message shared his delight at the growth of the occasion and encouraged all to support and take keen interest in the development of the Sunday School.

The event closed with a prayer by Sister Maame Amakaifio after 3 exciting hours. Over 800 members, parents, children and guests were in attendance. All Sunday School teachers were also in attendance.
