Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya celebrated the Good Friday divine service with the brethren of Nkawkaw Apostle Area as they began their 4-day Easter Convention on 19th April 2019. The occasion also marked their celebration of the 50th anniversary of NAC in Ghana. He was accompanied by Apostle Boakye and the District Leaders of the Nkawkaw Apostle Area. The service was held in the Mpraeso Senior High School.
The text word was taken from John 3:16 - 17, ‘For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.’
A sister also read a special bible passage from John 19:16-30.
Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya began his sermon by adoring the awesome loving and free-giving personhood of God, in the endless treasures of nature which has and continues to serve mankind without end. Yet, the Almighty Father, in His infinite love, went beyond measure to redeem man from his transgressions following the fall of Adam and Eve.
“God has given us everything in life to help us live, but no other gift from God is more precious and valuable than the gift of our Lord Jesus Christ. There was no other living thing worthy of sacrifice to the Almighty God for our forgiveness, because everything was tainted by the disobedience of Adam and Eve. Hence, the only begotten Son of God had to be sacrificed, to replace and end all sacrifices to God.”
He continued to highlight the unique characteristics of this loving Gift, “Yet, my brothers and sisters, let us remind ourselves of the way and manner of the life of our Lord, from His birth to His death. This Gift of Love was not to burden us, but rather a sacrificial lamb. A glorified ending after disgrace, victory after defeat, a celebrated King after servitude; that whosoever believes in Him shall have everlasting life. Brethren, if we are ungrateful for this Gift from God, we may have already judged and condemned ourselves.”
“Through the love of God, we are living under the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ. Let us endure in our faith, and hold on to this Gift from God. At the end of time, just as our Lord carried the cross to victory, we may also be victorious and join Him where He is. May the Lord bless us all. Amen.” the Lead Apostle concluded.
Lead Apostle Oppong-Brenya was assisted at the altar by Apostle Boakye and District Elders Brenya (Kade district) and Opoku Mensah (Nkawkaw district). Two hundred and thirty-one (231) attended this divine service.
As part of the celebrations, a talk by a fire service officer on The Sources of Fire Outbreaks in Homes was held after lunch. Thereafter, a mini choral concert performed by the Nkawkaw and Accra Youth Choirs, was held to the delight of the audience.
