Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya conducted a festive united divine service for 557 souls in the Kasoa district on Sunday 17th March 2019. He also interacted with the Sunday School and Confirmation Class before the service. Six Apostles and two Bishops accompanied him.
The service was based on Luke 6:47-48, ‘Whoever comes to Me, and hears My sayings and does them, I will show you whom he is like: He is like a man building a house, who dug deep and laid the foundation on the rock. And when the flood arose, the stream beat vehemently against that house, and could not shake it, for it was founded on the rock.’
“We are 50 years old in Ghana, and we must show our maturity in our faith, teachings, sacrifices, and purposefulness towards our goal of joining our Lord where He is. This is our hope, which should strengthen us, so as not to waiver but hold firm in the midst of challenges. This is the message given to us today in our text word.” said the Lead Apostle as he shared his core thoughts.
Who is this Rock? He asked, “Indeed, David, makes us know who this Rock is in the Psalms! ‘He only is my rock and my salvation; He is my defence, I shall not be greatly moved’. This is what the Psalmist narrates about the Lord Jesus. He is the Rock of Ages, that which has never been shaken or moved through time; a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation. So we firmly believe, that our doctrine is built upon this Rock. And we can hope to be redeemed on this foundation.”
“There will be stormy winds and thunderous rains” and the Lead Apostle added - “My dear brethren, we will not be spared of life’s challenges as Christians. It will not be easy. But let us take inspiration from the scripture that says all things work together for good for those who love the Lord. No matter the sufferings of our present circumstances, we can never compare the joys of eternal glory to the temporary relieve from our current struggles.”
“Whoever hears Me and does My will, lays a foundation on a Rock,” and continued, “Beloved, let us love and forgive our brethren, foster unity with each other, love God from our hearts and commit ourselves to God’s work, so as to be placed firmly on this Rock and never be shaken.” explained the Lead Apostle.
In conclusion, the Lead Apostle encouraged the congregation, “May His grace and mercy be with us, may we hear His voice and do His will, so He transforms us into eternal glory.”
The Lead Apostle was supported by Apostles Ashie Kotei and Akubia. One infant and 31 souls were baptized and holy sealed respectively. A Shepherd was retired with two Shepherds newly ordained. Five Community Evangelists were also ordained.
Earlier, the Lead Apostle, District Elder Oehler and the Apostles interacted with the Sunday School and the Confirmation Class. A role play on Cain and Abel was performed by the Sunday School kids to the admiration of all present.
