Selected District ministers and their wives within the Volta South Apostle Area observed Service for the Departed at Agortorme in the Adaklu Tonu District on Sunday, November 4, 2018. Apostle Wilson Dzatta conducted the service with the support of Bishop David Adjabeng and the seven (7) District Elders of the Apostle Area.
The programme commenced with a Welcome Service on Saturday evening, November 3, 2018 at Agortorme. The text word was taken from John 3: 14 – 15, “And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up, that whoever believes in him may have eternal life’. Apostle Wilson Dzatta elaborated the salvation plans of Christ. He emphasized the dangers of unbelief. Finally, he cited examples of Moses whose prayers brought deliverance to the afflicted.
The Apostle based the service on the text word from Mark 5:39 – 41, ‘And when he had entered, he said to them, ‘Why do you make a tumult and weep? The child is not dead but sleeping.’ And they laughed at him. But he put them all outside…’
In his sermon, Apostle Dzatta said that, only Jesus Christ could save mankind, based on belief and faith. He stressed that the daughter of the Ruler of the Synagogue had been saved because he (the Ruler) had ignored all discouragement from people. Apostle Dzatta, therefore, urged members to believe in only Jesus Christ. He also entreated members to sanctify Christ and continue to propagate the gospel with hope and consistent prayers, to facilitate the redemption of the living and dead.
At the Tsavanya Congregation (also in Volta South) on the same day, District Evangelist Samuel Konu centred his teachings on John 3: 14– 15. He cautioned members against internal grumblings and hatred that could block the departed souls from salvation. He advised members to ignore all forms of obstacles, believe in Christ and wait for the Lord in patience. District Evangelist Simon Goka, Priests Joseph Worname and Patrick Badzi also served.
