On Sunday the 23rd September 2018 in the East Legon congregation (Accra East District), Lead Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya conducted a divine service for the brothers and sisters there. He also performed a customary marriage blessing for a sister of the congregation and her partner.
The Lead Apostle conducted the Divine service based on the text word, Genesis 24:9 (NKJV), ‘So the servant put his hand under the thigh of Abraham his master, and swore to him concerning this matter.’
“My beloved brothers and sisters, our daughter Koteikai and our son in-law Darko, it is with complete joy that we are gathered here as witnesses on this day that the Lord has made. The Lord is faithful. And everything He has said shall be fulfilled”, the Lead Apostle said as he began his sermon.
He recounted the journey of faith and prayer embarked on by the servant of Abraham, in search of a wife for Abraham’s son, Isaac. He explained that the search was a very sacred one as the wife of Isaac was going to be the mother of Abraham’s descendants and generations to come, as promised by God. He added that as Abraham made his servant swear to accomplish this task, three things occurred; the witnessing of the oath by the Heavens, the Earth and Abraham himself, symbolizing the presence and witnessing of the Triune God.
The Lead Apostle also declared to the gathering not to give up hope, nor should we be afraid or anxious. Just as Abraham assured his servant of God’s help in the search, the Lord we serve and worship will provide our needs always, and His glory and power in Jesus Christ will lead ahead of us all the days of our lives. However, we must be pure in heart and not stray away from His ways.
In addressing the couple, he congratulated and admonished them to acknowledge God’s hand in their union. He counselled them (Kwaku Darko Mensah & Koteikai Ashie Kotei) to take great care of each other so as to enjoy countless blessings. He also advised the woman to be honest, dutiful and supportive of her man at all times.
The Lead Apostle was assisted by Apostles Boakye (Nkawkaw Apostle Area), Asampong (Koforidua Apostle Area) and Ohene-Saffo (Accra Apostle Area). There were 222 believers gathered for the service.
Sister Koteikai is the daughter of Apostle Ashie Kotei (Cape Coast Apostle Area). She is a member of the East Legon choir and has also been the Youth Leader of the congregation for the past 4 years.
