1st July is marked as Ghana’s republic day and as such recognised as a holiday. To the Sunday School Children of the Sunyani District Apostle Area of the New Apostolic Church, the long awaited day for their “get together” had finally arrived. The programme, which was held at the Sunyani Central Church, began promptly at 9:00 am.
District Evangelist Osei Acheampong described the purpose of gathering as a means of fostering togetherness, fellowship, sustenance of our faith and continuity of the church of Christ. Having admonished the children and the parents present with this delivery, the activities began.
The children engaged in diverse activities including: soccer, “tug of peace”, musical chairs, drama, quiz, fashion show and dance. Almost every child participated in one of the activities. Both boys and girls were eager to learn and participate in the activities.
When Hannah Nyame, the head of Sunday school teachers, was asked about the children’s performance, these were her remarks: “The children have followed accordingly every instruction that was given as the basis for each activity. All has turned out a success and our hearts are filled with joy. This proves that it certainly takes a child’s heart to receive and obey the word of God; in this lies heavenly joy.”
The programme ended successfully with the children and parents gathered looking forward to many glorious ones.
