Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo (Accra Area Apostle) expressed his heartfelt joy in celebrating Divine Service with the Ashaiman congregation on May 27, 2018. “My dear beloved brothers and sisters, it is a joy for me to be in your midst this morning”, he said. The service also witnessed the Holy Sealing of 38 souls from the Ashaiman and Suncity congregations under the Accra East District.
The service was based on the text word 1st John 5:6-8, “This is He who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth. For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one. And there are three that bear witness on earth: the Spirit, the water, and the blood; and these three agree as one”.
The Apostle began the service by explaining God’s plan for man’s salvation and how the plan involved the Triune God—the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit. He emphasized that each member of the Trinity was to play their role separately and in a special way to achieve this objective.
Apostle Ohene-Saffo illustrated how God the Father began the plan of our salvation through the prophets, resulting in the redemption of Israel from their slavery in Egypt onto the Promised Land. “It was the physical aspect of the spiritual salvation that He (God) was going to give to the world” said the Apostle. He further highlighted Jesus Christ (The Son, The Word) being ultimately sacrificed to atone for our sins and the sending of the Holy Spirit to teach and guide us towards the Kingdom, as the second and third parts of the plan towards man’s eternal salvation.
The Apostle further explained that as New Apostolics, we have been baptized with water and the Holy Spirit which bears witness of our salvation and life on earth. The Holy Spirit is always in union with The Father and Son and so as we are borne witness here on earth, so shall it be in Heaven as we enter the Kingdom of God.
As part of the service, Apostle Ohene-Saffo retired four ministers from the Accra East district. He also ordained 4 new Priests and 6 new Deacons all to serve under the Accra East district. The service was attended by over 250 members and was supported by Bishop Asare, District Elder Adjei and District Evangelist Amoah.
