The New Apostolic Church has embarked on numerous humanitarian projects in aid of needy communities for many years now. By this philosophy, the Church has assisted many communities, ranging from the provision of portable drinking water, access to bridges, sanitation facilities, provision of wheel chairs just to mention a few.
On 31st December, 2017, the people of the Akrofonsu Community gathered in view of the commissioning of the 2017 Mechanized Water Project, as a humanitarian aid to the people of the community. Water has been a major crisis for the people of Akrofonsu over the years. This is as a result of illegal mining, which has led to the pollution of the major water bodies within the area.
The Apostle of the Nkawkaw Apostle Area, Apostle Andrews Boakye felt the need to assist the people of Akrofonsu through humanitarian aid by the New Apostolic Church. Indeed, water is life and service to mankind is said to be service to God.
Concisely, the purpose of this project was to provide water to elevate the standard of living and also to enable the people of Akrofonsu realize how valuable they are to God and to the New Apostolic Church.
Several dignitaries including the Chiefs of the area and the surrounding communities, a representative of the District Chief Executive and the Contractor were all present to grace the occasion. Various speeches were given by the dignitaries to show their appreciation. They also assured the church of proper maintenance of the project. The members of the community were happy and felt blessed to have such an aid. The media were present to take coverage of the program.
