The Sogakope District celebrated a Youth Day at Aflao on Saturday, 29th April, 2017. This event is carried out on rotational basis within the Sogakope District. This 4th Edition of the Youth Program was attended by 210 youth. The activities commenced with a clean up exercise at the venue — Aflao R. C. Basic School, and its surroundings to alert the community of the event.
A divine service officiated by District Evangelist Samuel Konu, was held as part of the event. The text for the service was chosen from 1 Kings 17:18 – “And she said unto Elijah, what have I to do with thee, O thou man of God? Art thou come unto me to call my sin to remembrance, and to slay my son?”
The District Evangelist’s sermon, was centered on the lamentation of the hospitable widow who displayed maximum faith in her encounter with Prophet Elijah. He reminded the youth to remain as faithful as the Prophet Elijah, since they were the pillars and future of the New Apostolic Church.
In support, District Evangelist Simon Kwaku Goka admonished the youth to do well to identify God in His Servants. He encouraged them to be good listeners of the word who also practice the virtues implanted in them by the Holy Spirit.
The youth were exhorted to contribute their quota to the Lord during their youthful days with unconditional love. The event was climaxed with diverse fun games which enhanced fellowship.
