On Sunday, 16th April 2017, many New Apostolic Christians and guests converged on the Kumasi Central Church to commemorate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. The festive divine service was officiated by Apostle Samuel Oppong-Brenya. Accompanying him was Apostle Amos Osei-Du, steward of the Kumasi Apostle Area.
The Lead Apostle based his sermon on Acts 4:33 “And with great power the Apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus”. The Apostle said the source of the power of the Apostles was from the Holy Spirit promised by the Lord Jesus Christ. Quoting the Chief Apostle, the Apostle said, “The preaching of the Apostles about the resurrection had a deep impact upon the early Christians. Material things lost their importance, they were deeply concerned about eternal life, which helped them to become one heart and one soul and that the resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the foundation for the promise of our own resurrection.”
Thirty two children were confirmed in the course of the divine service. Also the Apostle appointed a new Rector for the Kumasi Central congregation, since the former Rector was ordained District Evangelist by District Apostle Michael Ehrich in January 2017.
The retired Apostle Benjamin Nketia was honoured by the congregation after the divine service. He was honoured with a citation in appreciation for his many years of devotion and sacrifice to the service of the Lord. The joy of the congregation was great with the return of Brother Ankomanim to the congregation. The brother was involved in a fatal lorry accident three years ago which led him completely incapacitated. By the grace of God, he is almost fully recovered and can now attend divine services. 2480 brethren attended the divine service.
