Takoradi district choir

In the Takoradi Apostle Working Area of Ghana, it has become a norm to usher in the Christmas festivities with an event dubbed: “Festival of Nine Lessons and Carols”.  The 2022 edition under the auspices of Apostle George Sam and Bishop Ampofo was held on Saturday 17th December 2022, at the Kojokrom congregation in the Takoradi District.  Performing song rendition at the event were the Takoradi and Sekondi District Choir.

Selected Bible lessons under the headings; the fall of mankind, the promise of a Messiah and the birth of Jesus Christ were read. Bishop Thomas Ampofo set the ball rolling with the first reading of the night. The bible lessons were blended with the singing of Christmas Carlos, congregational hymns and harmonic music. The choir provided stunning renditions connected to the season of Christmas.

The Sunday school children were also at hand to spice up the occasion with their musical prowess via the trumpet, violin and the piano. They also perform bible verse recitals to the admiration of the congregants.

Delivering the key note address at the event, Lead Apostle Oppong in his message to the celebrants said expressed delight to be part of the 2022 festival of nine lessons and carols. He was full of profound gratitude to God for His protection in the course of the year 2022. He also could not hide his joy over the display musical talent by the Sunday school children. The Lead Apostle further exhorted the congregants to keep the message our Lord in their heart as did Mary. According to him, Mary held on to the message delivered by the angel in her heart until the prophecy was fulfilled. He also further call on members to work hard at reviving inactive congregations in the year ahead.

The evening ended with the performance of the ‘Tie Tie chorus mixed up with wo dzi de la’ song by the mass choir, which was welcomed with a standing ovation by the audience.
