Welcome dear Lead Apostle
17 June 2023

On Sunday, June 4, 2023, Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo conducted a divine service at our church in Hohoe in the Volta North Apostle Area. This also served as an introductory service for the newly ordained Apostle, Alexander Poku-Akubia. The Lead Apostle was accompanied by Apostles Richard Osei (Volta Central) and Anthony Kuada (Volta South) and all District Rectors and their Deputies from the Volta North Apostle Area. A total of 286 brothers and sisters participated in the service.

The service was based on a bible word from 2 Corinthians 13:14 The grace of the Lord Jesus, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.”

After the choir had sung “The Lord is my light and my salvation is He”, the Lead Apostle opened the service delving into excerpts of the anthem, “...that, I may dwell in the house of the Lord, all the days of my life”.  “This is the house the Lord offered us, dear brethren. In here we find peace and comfort. There is love at our disposal, so is joy. Then also we have servants who are here to serve us in the house of the Lord” he stated. He further emphasized that those who gladly come to the house of the Lord are also expected to obey the given word.

The Trinity
Whom do you serve? “Who is your God?” quizzed the Lead Apostle in expounding the bible word. Explaining the nature of the God we serve, the Lead Apostle stated that He is;

  • a triune God (He is an embodiment of God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit)
  • full of Love
  • filled with grace (He is compassionate and not a God that delights in punishment)
  • One who grants humankind fellowship with Him;
  • the Omnipotent, Omniscient and Omnipresent God

The Lead Apostle with reference to 1 John 5:7, stated that these three, the Father, the Word (Jesus Christ) and the Holy Spirit bear witness in heaven. These are together in one, though distinct in function. He further explained the roles of each member of the Trinity to mankind:

The love of God
The Lead Apostle stated that, God created the earth and the elements therein out of love. He loved His creation including man whom He made in His own image. Despite the fall of man, God manifested His deepest love for mankind through the promise to send a Saviour. The Lead Apostle emphasized that, the incarnation of Jesus Christ is the manifestation of the totality of God’s love unto humankind. He admonished members to radiate this love unto God’s creation.

The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ
“Jesus Christ, the second person in the Trinity provides us with the grace required to be able to attain eternal life. By this grace, the sin of man is forgiven, granting mankind unrestricted access to the Father and eternal life. Sinful mankind is no longer punished or expelled from His fellowship. The salvific sacrifice of Jesus Christ eliminated all forms of sacrifices for the atonement of sins”, the Lead Apostle averred. Upon completion of His work on earth, the Lead Apostle continued, He left to His Father. From there, the third person in the Trinity could now be sent to us; the Holy Spirit.

The communion of the Holy Spirit
“The Holy Spirit functions as a unifier, creates fellowship in the body of Christ and provides in-depth understanding of the scriptures. He leads into all truth and now prepares the bride of Christ for His return. The fellowship of the Holy spirit is devoid of envy, hatred and judgement” the Apostle explained. He further exhorted members to live in the love of God in the fellowship with one another through Holy Spirit.

Concluding the sermon, the Lead Apostle emphasized that, the journey to eternal fellowship with the Lord requires that the Father’s love, the Son’s grace and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit already abide with us and in us.

The service was assisted by Apostles Richard Osei, Anthony Kuada, Alexander Poku-Akubia and District Rector Samuel Agyemang.
