During the Two-Day, National Heads of Seminars (NHS) in West Africa Meeting in Accra, our NAC Reporter caught up with some heads as they shared insights on the seminar and the Church so far. Below are excerpts.
NAC Reporter: Congrats on your assignment as the Lead Apostle for Benin and Togo. How do you feel about the assignment?
Lead Apostle Yedenou (Benin & Togo): Firstly, such honour goes to Jesus Christ not me as this was due to teamwork. I am just a servant. Initially, I was surprised at being giving such an assignment but am learning to hold the fort.
NAC Reporter: Lead Apostle, what is your take on the on-going seminar?
Lead Apostle Yedenou (Benin & Togo): Very educative and information as it is evident the Church is going through some changes and phases through discussions and consultations. And this will be the roadmap for the future Church.
NAC Reporter: Are you familarised with any Ghanaian word?
Lead Apostle Yedenou (Benin & Togo): Well, “Nkurofuor” (laughing). I hear people say this a lot in Ghana. (Nkurofuor is a Ghanaian Twi Language literally meaning People.)
NAC Reporter: Is this your first in Ghana and what’s your impression on the seminar?
Apostle Saffa (Sierra Leone): No, I have been attending the NHS for years’ now. It’s good, we always meet to share ideas, and make sure the principles, doctrinal issues about the Church are decided as a group. And after, implement them in our various countries and congregations.
NAC Reporter: Apostle Saffa, is this your time attending? If not, how has this seminar differed from the previous ones?
Apostle Braima Saffa (Sierra Leone): Matters being treated in this seminar were those without answers in the past. For example the issue of inactive congregations. We have been deliberating solutions on how to reactivating them.
NAC Reporter: Please share with me, your insights on this seminar?
Apostle Amevoh (Togo), District Rectors Bouo (Cote D’Ivoire) & Yovo (Togo):
The shared experiences and lessons learnt from my brothers in other countries to improve the Church’s activities and improve congregations has been eye-opening. I believe these lessons will also foster joy and renewed enthusiasm in our various congregations back home.
NAC Reporter: Have both your personal objective as a tutor/head of seminar and the Church’s seminar objectives been met?
Apostle Rheinberger (Germany): Yes, we have met all objectives as we discussed on reviving inactive congregations, education on seminary topics among others. So yes, it’s been a good and well accomplished seminar.
NAC Reporter: Apostle, thank you but am guessing this is not your first time in Ghana? Can you share any Ghanaian word with us?
Apostle Rheinberger(Germany): No, this is my 3rd time in Ghana. You [NAC Reporter] kindly tell/teach me one example.
NAC Reporter: ‘Medaase’, a Twi Ghanaian language meaning ‘Thank you’.
Apostle Rheinberger(Germany): “Medaase” for everything. The people are very nice, and Ghana is lovely. I am from Germany where it’s snowing and here is 35 degrees Celsius which makes it perfect to stay.
NAC Reporter: Nigeria is on a charge to reviving many inactive congregations. What is the secret? And has this seminar yielded your expectations as the General Seminar Coordinator and including its dissemination to the various congregations.
Apostle Kpegasin (Nigeria): Hahaha, no secret please! It’s been a collaborative efforts and glory to God. Yes, my expectations have been met, particularly the enthusiasm and support of the various heads in West Africa.
