On the first Sunday of Advent, December 3, 2023, the Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo (Ghana) held a divine Service at East-Legon, Accra East District. He was accompanied by the Lead Apostle Vincent Yedenou (Benin and Togo), the National Heads of Seminars, Apostles, Bishops and District Rectors in Ghana.
The text word used, was from Jeremiah 33:14-15; “‘Behold, the days are coming,’ says the Lord, ‘that I will perform that good thing which I have promised to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah:’ In those days and at that time I will cause to grow up to David A Branch of righteousness; He shall execute judgment and righteousness in the earth.’”
In his opening remarks, the Lead Apostle conveyed the understanding that, man was the crown of God’s creation right from the Garden of Eden and became a target to the devil. Now, after man fell, God granted him yet another opportunity through the promise, the arrival of Jesus Christ to deliver all human beings.
The Lead Apostle Saffo further explained, “The promise was given unto man, which was about the coming of the Messiah. From the Scriptures, God granted peace unto the people of Israel and thereafter, gave them His laws. As time elapsed, these laws became the Israelites' customs and traditions, by which they lived upon every day. But these customs and traditions did not give them salvation though some expected it.”
Christ's arrival and salvation mission to earth was announced by prophets in the Old Testament. He continued: “Brethren, today is the first Advent, and as such we look forward to the day the Lord was born and the preparation towards His arrival. Therefore, it is necessary we understand the principles of the salvation planned for man by God.” The Lead Apostle Ohene-Saffo explained that:
- Jesus Christ had salvation in Him yet many did not believe in Him. Rather they believed in the customs, laws and traditions' scriptures handed to them by their forefathers. So clearly, the law was different from grace and the transition from the law unto grace became a problem.
- The law won't lead us to salvation. And some people would still prefer to live under the law even if spoken to about grace.
Grace was given by Christ and unless we are baptised of water and the Spirit, eat of His body, and drink of His blood, we do not have life in us, cannot enter into the kingdom of God and won’t be raised on the last day, explained the the Lead Apostle.
He further explained that we cannot be dependent on the old, which is the law and think of having salvation. Christianity is centered on salvation by Jesus Christ not the laws of old. Salvation is embedded in Jesus Christ. Thus, the second covenant had Jesus Christ embedded in it. Although, everlasting life has been promised by Jesus Christ, it’s not just about believing in it but believing with action. “So, let’s live by what Christ has taught us. Hence, the power and authority is in the Lord and salvation is here for us.”
The Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo was supported by Lead Apostle Yedenou (Togo & Benin), Apostles Rheinberger (Germany), Kpegasin (Nigeria) and Amevoh (Togo), and District Elder Venancio Obama (Equatorial Guinea). The Attendance for the divine service was three hundred and seven-three (373) comprised of members from East-Legon, Marteyman and Osu Congregations (Accra East District) and Madina Congregation (Accra West District).
