Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo on day two of his visit to the Volta North Apostle Area conducted a divine service on Sunday 26th November 2023 at the Anfoega-Bume congregation (Vakpo District). This coincided with a special wreath laying and one year memorial service of the late Apostle Benjamin Pidah who was buried in May 2022.
The Lead Apostle served the over 241 members and guests with a bible word from I Corinthians 15: 51-52; “Behold, I tell you a mystery: We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed - in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.”
Drawing inspiration from a hymn sang by the choir after the bible text was read, “Bringing in the sheaves”, the Lead Apostle began: “There is a season to plant, and a season to harvest. The nature of the harvest reflects the nature of the planting. This is a natural phenomenon. But in the spiritual sense, it is not always the case; it is little more complicated.”
The fear of death and judgement
The Ghana Church leader continued to explain that many a person are gripped with fear at the mention of death. Why? Many believe and know of a judgment after death. “When we assess how we sow and we begin to imagine what the harvest shall be, fear engulfs us”, he said. This he said is also the case in the house of God. However, the Lead Apostle gave hope to the congregation. “For those who believe in Jesus Christ, accept the grace and align themselves to the gospel of Christ, the Lord shall have mercy on them. They shall escape this judgement. This, however, depends on each individual.”
The resurrection of the dead
The resurrection is a future event. The sounding of the trumpet marks the beginning of the end-time events. The resurrection of the dead and the transformation of the living is not simply the restoration of the physical body, but the creation of a body that is incorruptible.
The dead will rise, and the living will be transformed
Speaking to Apostle Paul’s description in 1 Corinthians 15: 53 is beyond our imagination and experience: “For this corruptible body must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality.” This event is only accessible through faith. This is what awaits us, the Lead Apostle avers.
The role of the Apostleship
The Apostolate received from the Lord Jesus Christ the power to prepare souls for the resurrection. These the Lead Apostle mentioned as the power to forgive sins, dispense the sacraments, and proclaim the pure teachings of Jesus Christ. They that receive and live in the doctrine of the Apostle shall escape judgment through the first resurrection. The Lead Apostle entreated members to know and understand the task of the Apostles and embrace them. He further entreated members to be weary of false teachings and so-called miracles parading on the airwaves and avoid them.
The service was supported by Apostles Kuada and Osei as well as Ditrict Rectors Anyomi and Ayidzoe.
