‘A new year is a gift no matter what the coming months hold in store for us, we can be sure: God is still at work’, said Chief Apostle in his 2023 New Year address, under the theme Serving and reigning with Christ. Truly the Takoradi Apostle Working Area led by Apostle George Sam has experienced immeasurable grace from God as He protected and guided our church through each day in 2023. A spotlight on how the Apostle Area cared for the church and community in 2023.
Improving Lives and Caring for Those in Need.
The Takoradi Apostle Area engaged in humanitarian support and facilitated the payment of hospital bills to members who needed to settle their bills. In addition, the Working Area also benefitted from the benevolence of a retired minister who donated motorcycles, microphones and speakers to be distributed among the 16 districts for Church activities. The Working Area also saw the construction of a new Church building for the Takoradi congregation, the dedication of the Nduabesa congregation, and the maintenance of some selected congregations in 2023.
Congregational Activities, Serving Within the Church
Every week, an average of 4,223 congregants attend divine service across the 16 districts in the Apostle Area. An additional 54 members were baptized and sealed. Out of the 179 congregations, 103 congregations are active; 3 of which were revived during the year. There is a plan to revive many more congregations in 2024. To serve these congregations, 12 new Priests and 3 Deacons were added to the 364 active ministers in the Area. Five (5) ministers were placed into retirement.
Children, Youth, and Music
The Children and Youth was another focus for Apostle Sam. Together with his ministers, the Apostle has initiated a special United Children’s service for the Working Area, to be held by each district on the first Sunday in January. This years’ service was held at Kojokrom. The Working Area also procured string and wind instruments to aid the youth build and contribute their talents.
Thank You
Apostle Sam, leader of the Takoradi Working Area shared a few words of appreciation: “We thankfully admit the selfless service and resources by Church members and support as we jointly care for God's children. Throughout the year, we demonstrated a deep love and commitment to the ministry Christ has called us to. We continue to hope in Christ as He protects, renews, and sustains our Church with His amazing and wonderful grace as we welcome the New Year. On behalf of the whole district, I thank you for your faithful and generous support for the Takoradi Apostle Working Area.”
