Apostle George Sam visited the Kojokrom congregation in the Takoradi South district on Palm Sunday, where he urged them to accept Christ as a King and follow His leadership and guidance.
The Bible text used for the service was taken from Luke 19:38-40, “‘Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord!’ Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” And some of the Pharisees called to Him from the crowd, “Teacher, rebuke your disciples.”40 But He answered and said to them, “I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out.”
“He knows exactly who and where you are”
“It must have been difficult for the disciples to untie a donkey that did not belong to the Lord on His behest” Apostle Sam said as he began his sermon. “But this was a donkey that Jesus found important for a reason, and knew its precise location. Dear brothers and sisters, you may have been waiting on God’s blessings and intervention for years. I can assure you the Lord knows exactly who and where you are. You are important to Him and He will visit you at the appropriate time to manifest His power and glory”.
Untie the Donkey
Nobody realized the perspective of the donkey since it was tied and nobody believed that the donkey could be useful, let alone carrying the King of Kings into Jerusalem, said the Apostle. Jesus changed the status of the donkey when He sat on it and thus suddenly made the donkey very special. We are also indeed special to Christ if we allow ourselves to be used for God’s purpose.
The Lord Needs You
God does not look for the qualified but seeks for the unqualified and humble to qualify them. God needs every person who is dedicated and consecrated to Him no matter who they are, where they have come from, or what they have done in the past. There is not even one person in the body of Christ that is more important than another. “Christ needs us to be a part of His kingdom” he added.
Let Your People Keep Mute
The Apostle said not everyone is happy to hear the gospel. Some are not interested in it, others are against it, and they want all voices that speak of Jesus to be silent. He continued: “We still have people who always try to suppress our joy in Christ but just as Jesus indicated the people’s acclamation should be encouraged and not suppressed, otherwise ‘the stones would immediately cry out’”.
Ending the sermon the Apostle reminded the congregation to always remember that we must preach the gospel of Jesus, whether people hear it or not. “Let us celebrate Palm Sunday (Hosanna) in the right manner as Christ did when He entered Jerusalem to establish His Kingdom”.
The Apostle was assisted by District Rector Fenyi, Rector Shepherd Ntim and Priest Patrick.
