On March 10, 2024, Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo led a special Sunday Divine Service with members of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) congregation. Accompanying the Ghana Church leader were Apostles Osei-Du (Kumasi), Nortey (Konongo), Sam (Takoradi), Asare (Accra), Poku-Akubia (Volta North), Osei (Volta Central), Kuada (Volta South), and Bishop Kesse (Konongo).
The service was centred on the text from Luke 15:18 “I will arise and go to my father, and will say to him, “Father, I have sinned against heaven and before you.”
Beware of the times!
Expressing his joy at the exuberance and dedication of the youth, giving him comfort about the future of the Church in Ghana, the Lead Apostle emphasized the importance of our consciousness amidst the pressures that comes our way. He urged the congregants with to be filled with spiritual engagement, and shared devotion and continue to reflect on the text word and sermons at divine services in their daily lives.
We are better off with our Father
Explaining the text word, the Lead Apostle highlighted how easily a New Apostolic could lose their way and lose their heavenly inheritance. “As Christians, the exuberance and the swaying effects of new knowledge and experiences could place us in the position of the prodigal son if we are not careful”. He added that each of us have an inheritance “which is the Spirit that has been laid into us, guaranteeing us the ability to enter the kingdom of God.”
He added that, there are many alternative ideas and interesting doctrines which often ends in self-destruction. “But no matter where you go, no matter how many times you fall, please keep in touch. Walk back into the house of God, the ministers and the members acting as the father of the “prodigal son” are willing, ready and able to accept you.” Let us not allow the pressures of the world to derail our efforts towards salvation.
Protect the soul’s inheritance and salvation
The Lead Apostle admonished the members not to allow any doctrine, knowledge, marriage, or the material things of the world to hinder us from seeking salvation for our souls.
In concluding his message, the Lead Apostle asked: “Are we looking for salvation or societal belongingness? The answer will define our behaviour even in times of distress and in times when we do not get what we want in this physical life. The power of God still works in the New Apostolic Church, but only if you will have faith and remain resolute”.
