Apostle Akubia with the confirmed at Torkor
9 May 2024

Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo, on Sunday April 21, 2024, conducted two divine services in the Volta North Apostle Area -Hohoe Central and Kpando-Torkor congregations. Four young brothers and sisters received their confirmation blessing in the two services; one at Hohoe and three at Kpando-Torkor. In all, about 350 brethren attended the services.

The Lead Apostle in both services served the congregants with a bible word from John 14:6: ‘Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me”’

The Way
“Which way do you follow? Where is your destination?” These questions set the tone for the Lead Apostle’s elaboration. Every journey has a destination, and every destination has a way to it. No one journeys without a purpose, a way and a destination, explained the Lead Apostle. “Our spiritual journey has a destination – eternal fellowship with the Lord – and there is a way that leads there – the sacraments and the word from the altar of grace through the Apostolate” the Lead Apostle opined. He further entreated members to be mindful of their conduct and ensure they remain on the way that leads to the kingdom of God. “Jesus Christ is the only way that leads to our heavenly goal” he emphasized.

The Truth
“Truth is one, and it is dangerous and pitiful to walk the face of the earth without knowing the truth” the Lead Apostle stated. “Do you know the truth?” he quizzed. He went ahead to give examples of that which constitute the truth in the life of those on the “Way” – the return of Christ, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, through His sacrificial death and resurrection we have forgiveness of sins and eternal life, the Holy Communion is the true body and blood of Jusus Christ and except one is born of water and of the spirit he shall not enter into the kingdom of God.

The Life
Everyone on earth strives to gain or protect his life which is but temporal. What Jesus Christ offers is eternal life. A life that lives forever. The Lead Apostle exhorted members to strive for eternal life in all their dealings. He further bemoaned the widespread desire by man to make all the goodies of this life and in the process lose their focus on the life to come. “Believing in Jesus, following His gospel and partaking of the sacraments is a sure way of having the life of Christ in us, then we shall have this life eternally”

Concluding the sermon, the Lead Apostle stated, “Let us seek and know the truth, follow Jesus Christ and the Apostolate – the way, and through the Holy Communion allow Jesus Christ’s life grow in us, then we shall be with Him eternally”.

Confirmation
Apostle Alexander Poku-Akubia (Volta North) performed the confirmation act. In his address to the confirmands, he reminded the confirmands of their responsibility for their actions henceforth. He however, assured them of the help of God in their new phase of spiritual journey. He further promised them of the support of the ministers, the congregation and their parents towards upholding their confirmation vow. “I would also urge you to follow the way of Jesus Christ, seek and know the truth, and these shall lead you into the eternal life in Christ Jesus.”  He further urged the confirmands to put their gifts and talents to use in the congregation.
