The late, District Elder Akplorkpoe (ir)
25 September 2024

The late District Elder Justin Akplorkpoe (ir) was laid to rest at his hometown, Vakpo, in the Volta Region of Ghana on September 7, 2024. The funeral service was conducted by Apostle Alexander Poku-Akubia. He was accompanied by a number of District Ministers from the Volta North, Volta-Central and Volta-South Apostle Areas.

The funeral service was based on the Bible word from John 10:9: “I am the door. If anyone enters by me, he will be saved and will go in and out and find pasture”.

In summary, the Apostle explained that our eternal salvation and fellowship with God can only be found in the acceptance and belief in Jesus Christ. This belief can be attained in many ways: “The doors to accepting and believing in Jesus are varied; through baptism, word of God, Holy Communion, grace, prayer and trust in the Apostle’s doctrine. All these are relevant for they that desire salvation.” He entreated the mourners to follow the right and appropriate doors that lead to eternal life.

Tribute to the memory of District Elder Justin Akplorkpoe (ir)
District Elder Justin Akplorkpoe was baptized into the New Apostolic Church on August 6, 1982. This was after he received an invitation to the divine service by his friend, Apostle Timothy Akubia(ir), then a Deacon.  He was sealed on 16th January 1983 by Apostle Kwesi Parku of blessed memory.

Over the course of time, he received the following ministries:
August 20, 1984       Sub-Deacon

February 3, 1985      Priest

July 8, 1986               Community Evangelist

October 19, 1988     Shepherd

June 25, 2000          District Evangelist

August 8, 2002        District Elder

On August 22, 2021 District Elder Justin Akplorkpoe was placed into retirement by District Apostle Michael Ehrich during a divine service at the Accra Central Church.

The late District Rector was instrumental in the establishment of the first choir at the Hohoe Congregation. He was full of zeal and gifted with organizational skills.  His career as a professional Educationist positively impacted on his work as servant of God. He demonstrated a great sense of knowledge in the New Apostolic faith.

When his teaching work took him to Akpafu Mempeasem, he started a congregation with his nuclear family, in the chambers of his residence, then moved to the porch when more members joined and the numbers begun to grow. They later moved to a permanent premise. Many of the congregation were his students from the local school, some of whom have become ministers today. His efforts to establish congregations in the neighbouring town was truncated by his official posting to his hometown, Vakpo. Here also, he put his skills and talents to work the Lord’s vineyard until he was ordained a District Elder.

From 2018, District Rector Akplorkpoe started experiencing health challenges. He however continued to serve the Lord until his retirement in 2021.

On Wednesday, June 19, 2024, our dear District Rector was called to glory around 9PM, shortly after a sudden deterioration in health.

Rest well, District Elder, till we meet again on the resurrection day.
