On Sunday, December 29, 2024, the Osu Congregation marked the conclusion of the year with a special meaningful end-of-year Divine Service, with their Congregational Rector Shepherd Attiemo Kwapong.

The divine service was based on a text read from Psalm 34:5, “They looked to Him and were radiant, and their faces were not ashamed.”

In his sermon, Shepherd Kwapong inspired the congregation to keep looking up to Christ as the year comes to a close and the new one begins. This he said can be done through:

  • The servants whom He has sent, attending divine services, and offering prayers with gratitude
  • The Word, Grace and Sacraments
  • Finding joy and hope even amidst life's challenges as Christ is with us, and
  • Anticipating with excitement for Christ’s return as He has written our names in heaven

After the service, the congregation gathered under canopies for a festive social event, which featured food, drinks, and a series of performances within the church premises. The Osu choir, soloists – Brothers Okpoti & Exauce as well as Reverend Lokko – as well as the Tema Congregation Brass Band, provided entertainment for the attendees. The program began with an opening prayer by retired Bishop Eric Ampadu, followed by remarks from the event's emcee, Priest Philip Bonsu Otchere, who outlined the purpose of the gathering.

The Welfare Committee, in collaboration with Osu ministers, organized the event to strengthen relationships within the church, reach out to inactive members, and promote members' welfare as the church enters 2025. Sister Millicent Ocquaye Lutterodt, speaking on behalf of the Welfare Committee, thanked all those who attended and contributed to the event. Also, she expressed hope for continued growth, unity, and togetherness in Christ’s love throughout the coming year.

The event was also attended by Apostle Charles Asare (Accra Area), Deputy District Rectors De-Heer (Accra East) and Hammond (Accra West District), as well as Congregational Rectors Amponsah (Tema), Lartey (Teshie 2), and Kwapong (Osu). Retired ministers present included Apostle Peregrino Afutu-Kotei, District Rector Ebenezer Adjei and Shepherd Ashitey accompanied by their spouses.

The gathering was filled with joy, music, dance and lively conversations. The event concluded with a closing prayer by the Deputy District Rector Hammond.
