Floating through the streets of Wiawso

The youth from twelve districts in the Wiawso Apostle Working Area gathered at the Wiawso College of Education (WATICO) to celebrate their 2025 Annual Youth conference under the theme: “Let your light so shine” (Matthew 5:16)

DAY 1 – Arrival and Welcome
The conference commenced on Thursday, 3rd October, with the arrival of young people from all twelve districts within the Apostle Area. By evening, participants had gathered at the WATICO auditorium, where they received a warm welcome from Deaconess Juliana Pokua. The evening featured a delightful drama performance by the Sunday School Children from Wiawso District, setting a joyful tone for the days ahead. District Rector Richard Apor closed the program with a prayer.

DAY 2 – Devotion, Teachings and Empowerment
The day began with a spirit-filled morning devotion led by Deacon Frimpong Kwasi from Boako District.

Welcome Address
Apostle Augustus Adika-Lavoe welcomed all participants, expressing gratitude for their presence and encouraging them to be respectful and obedient throughout the conference.

Health Talk
Brother Isaac Belia Benson from the Sefwi Wiawso Municipal Health Directorate delivered a talk on drug abuse, highlighting its harmful effects on youth and the nation. He urged participants to avoid such practices and focus on building purposeful lives.

Doctrinal Teachings

  • District Rector Daniel Oppong spoke on Youth in Ministry, emphasizing the vital role young people play in building the church.
  • District Rector Stephen Amoako taught on The Act of Giving, encouraging open-hearted generosity, reminding all that “it is more blessed to give than to receive.”

Vocational Empowerment
In the evening, District Rector Thomas Nkrumah inspired the youth with a session on vocational skills and entrepreneurship. He stressed the importance of self-reliance and shared examples of successful Ghanaian entrepreneurs who started with modest resources.

DAY 3 – Evangelism, Fellowship and Fun
The final day began with a morning devotion led by Youth Leader Frederick Nkuah. The youth then embarked on a street evangelism float through the principal streets of Sefwi Wiawso, joyfully sharing the Word of God with passersby.

Life Planning Session
Apostle Adika-Lavoe engaged the youth in a discussion on future planning, urging them to avoid distractions and allow the Holy Spirit to guide their decisions.

Sports and Activities
At the WATICO park, Districts competed in a lively football tournament, with Debiso District emerging victorious.

The evening featured:

  • A drama performance by Wiawso Sunday School children
  • A choreography display by Boako Sunday School children
  • A Bible Quiz, where Bremang District claimed the top spot
