In the New Apostolic Church, Thanksgiving is a cherished annual celebration—a time to reflect on God’s unwavering faithfulness and abundant goodness. It fosters unity, deepens our appreciation for His love, and reminds us of the countless blessings we receive daily.
As we prepare our hearts for this sacred occasion, gratitude overflows. One of the most heartfelt expressions of this gratitude is seen in the decoration of our altars. A beautifully adorned altar mirrors the joy and thankfulness within us—it becomes a visual testimony of our love for God.
Kojokrom Congregation’s Thanksgiving Service
It was a true delight to witness the Kojokrom congregation’s recent Thanksgiving celebration. The altar overflowed with fruits and gifts, each one a token of love and gratitude. Members gathered in reverence and joy to offer thanks to the Lord for His goodness. The service, led by District Rector Fenyi, emphasized that gratitude should go beyond words — it should be reflected in our gifts and actions.
This year’s service served as a powerful reminder: thankfulness draws us closer to God and to one another. By giving thanks, we acknowledge His presence in our lives and reaffirm our trust in His divine care. Inspired by Psalm 116:12, “What shall I return to the Lord for all His benefits toward me?”, the congregants were encouraged to reflect on this verse and bring offerings that symbolized their heartfelt appreciation.
District Elder Fenyi reminded us that true thanksgiving begins in the heart. The gifts we offer should reflect the sincerity of our devotion. Indeed, a grateful heart and a beautiful altar go hand in hand. As Thanksgiving is celebrated across the world, may our altars shine with the beauty of our gratitude. Let them be symbols of our love, devotion, and praise. And may our hearts continue to overflow with thanksgiving—for all He has done, and all He continues to do.
