Lead Apostle Benjamin Ohene-Saffo recently concluded a three-day working visit to the Takoradi Apostle Area, culminating in a united divine service at the Antsembua Congregation in the Beposo District on Sunday, 28 September 2025.
His visit began on Friday, 26 September, with a strategic meeting involving all district leaders to discuss key matters affecting the Apostle Area. On Saturday evening, he conducted a divine service at the Nyanakrom Congregation in the Sekondi District, preparing hearts for the spiritual climax on Sunday. The Lead Apostle’s sermon was anchored in Genesis 14:20: “And he gave him a tithe of all.”
Using the example of Abraham’s offering to Melchizedek, Apostle Ohene-Saffo explored the spiritual significance of giving—not as a duty, but as a heartfelt expression of gratitude.
Tithes vs Thanksgiving
Apostle Ohene-Saffo explained that Abraham’s tithe was given freely, not by command. It was an act of personal devotion, later adopted as tradition in Israel. He clarified that while the formal law of tithing has been abolished, thanksgiving offerings remain vital as expressions of gratitude to God.
Giving from the Heart
True giving, he emphasized, must come from a willing heart, not out of obligation. Abraham chose to give ten percent—not because he had to, but because he recognized that the victory was God’s doing, not his own. The congregation was encouraged to reflect on their own giving and ensure it is done with sincerity and appreciation for God’s work in their lives.
Gratitude and Blessings
The Lead Apostle reminded members that salvation is not dependent on tithes, nor are offerings a prerequisite for grace. However, a grateful heart opens the door to blessings. He urged believers to recognize each day as a miracle and to cultivate a lifestyle of thanksgiving.
Intentions Matter
“It’s not about the amount placed in the offering box,” he said, “but the spirit in which it is given. Everyone has something to offer, but the question remains: Is your giving intentional? Is it from the heart?” The congregation was invited to examine their motives and align their offerings with the ultimate gift—God’s sacrifice of His only begotten Son. The service was supported by Apostle Sam, Bishop Ampofo, District Elder Andoh, and District Evangelist Dogbatse, whose presence added to the spiritual richness of the occasion. As the Apostle concluded his visit, the message was clear: Giving is not measured by quantity, but by the sincerity of the heart. May we all continue to give with joy, gratitude, and reverence for the One who gave us everything.
