District Rector Fenyi leading the choir during the District Apostle’s divine service

Music in divine services is more than melody—it is ministry. It uplifts and honours God, stirs the soul, prepares hearts for the message, and amplifies His word. Through singing and instrumental expression, believers find solace, strength, and unity, especially in times of trial. Music also builds community, weaving together voices and hearts in shared faith.

In the New Apostolic Church, music is a vital element of divine services, church events, and activities. Following the recent festive divine service conducted by District Apostle Michael Ehrich, NAC Accra Reporter Priest Ebenezer Adjei sat down with a leader who embodies this spirit: District Rector Seth Fenyi of Takoradi-South. More than a director, he is a conductor of hearts, a weaver of harmonies, and the driving force behind the Takoradi Apostle Working Area Choir, especially during the District Apostle’s visit.

Following are highlights from the conversation.

Priest Adjei: (Laughing) At long last, I get to interview a true music maestro for Takoradi! Please introduce yourself to us.
District Rector Seth Fenyi:
I am District Rector Seth Fenyi (Takoradi-South), and I also serve as the Choir Master for the Takoradi Apostle Working Area.

Priest Adjei: Are you a member of the esteemed Fenyi family of the New Apostolic Church-Ghana? And we’ve heard you’re also a medical doctor. Is this true?
District Rector Seth Fenyi:
Yes, I come from the historic Fenyi family. My father and uncle were both ministers in the Church, and today we children follow in their footsteps, embracing both faith and music. And yes, I am also a medical doctor.

Priest Adjei: With the divine service and yesterday’s concert, how did you manage to juggle schedules and bring everything together so successfully?
District Rector Seth Fenyi:
I built a strong team. As choir leader, I visited each choir within the Apostle Working Area. When it was difficult to meet individual congregational choirs, I combined them into a district choir. By the time we gathered here, I knew the quality we would deliver. This was for God, and we trusted that He would assist us—and that’s exactly what happened.

Priest Adjei: Did you face any challenges?
District Rector Seth Fenyi:
Of course. Even with ample time and dedicated choristers, challenges arise. But when you are committed to the task, nothing can stop you, because it is God’s work. You simply need strength. It has been flawless—not because it was easy, but because we knew we were doing it for God. That has been our mindset from the start.

Priest Adjei: Any words of encouragement for those aspiring to follow in your footsteps?
District Rector Seth Fenyi: Keep God as your main aim. Don’t be swayed by what others do. Give everything you have, knowing you’re doing it for God, regardless of external factors. That’s what we did.

Priest Adjei: Thank you very much, District Rector Seth Fenyi, for your time.
District Rector Seth Fenyi: Thank you too.
