The Lead Apostle’s visit to the Volta North Apostle area was climaxed with a divine service at the Nkonya Ntumda congregation in the Hohoe District on January 18, 2026.

Here the Lead Apostle served 211 members with a bible word from John 1:29-31: ‘The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who is preferred before me, for He was before me.’  I did not know Him; but that He should be revealed to Israel, therefore I came baptizing with water.’

Opening the service, the Lead Apostle directed the minds of members to the theme for the year: ‘Do not be afraid, just believe’. He encouraged members not to allow the events of the past year sow in them a seed of uncertainty and fear but rather that they may journey with faith and trust in the Lord. “For as long as we have life, let us hold fast our faith. Our God is living and will fulfil His promises unto us at His appointed time” he assured.

The Role of John the Baptist
The Lead Apostle in his elaboration referred to the events in the Garden of Eden. Man fell into sin and was banished by God. “However, the Lord promised a Messiah, whose role is to bruise the head of the serpent – the evil one. This man is Christ Jesus” he reminded the congregation. He further explained that, the role of John the Baptist was to prepare the way for the salvation work of Jesus Christ, hence he, could not help, but affirmed the being of Jesus Christ to the people gathered at His baptism. This the Lead Apostle stated, the Messiahship of Jesus Christ was hidden but John recognized and revealed Him to the public.

The Lamb of God - His role and revelation
The Lord Jesus Christ according to the Lead Apostle, came to perform a specific function; to take away the sins of the world through his sacrificial death. This paved the way for man to access the Father and partake in eternal fellowship with Him. “He also established His church, assigned the Apostles and equipped them also with the authority to prepare the souls through word and sacraments.” he expounded. The Lead Apostle emphasized that, through the Lamb of God, we are liberated from the law and placed under grace. The Lord today, he said, reveals Himself in the Apostolate and the sacraments. This he admonished members to believe in, trust and cling to for eternal life.

False Teachings in Our Time
The Lead Apostle bemoaned the widespread misconceptions about the role our Lord Jesus Christ; to satisfy the material needs of believers. Many, the Lead Apostle said, also hold fast to Old Testament traditions and customs and fail to embrace the plan of salvation revealed through Jesus Christ. He entreated members to focus on the goal of our faith. “Let us leave behind us the law and customs and traditions of old, and faithfully embrace that which the Lord Jesus Christ brought unto us. John the Baptist saw this, and proclaimed that the Lord Jesus Christ was greater than and was before him”, the Lead Apostle emphasized. Concluding the sermon, the Lead Apostle advised members to depart from old traditions that do not support the revelations and role of our Lord Jesus Christ, but rather accept Him, who came to take away the sins of the world and His plan of salvation.
