On Sunday, 29 March 2026, the New Apostolic Church Ghana, together with the wider West African community, will bid a heartfelt farewell to the Southern Germany District Church leader, District Apostle Michael Ehrich. The special divine service will be held at the Accra Central Church in Darkuman and will be broadcast live on Ghana Television (GTV) as well as the Church’s YouTube channel. This moment marks the close of a remarkable chapter of ministry.
As District Apostle Ehrich prepares to enter a new phase of life, the reflective expression “you came from the bench and shall return to the bench” carries profound meaning. It underscores the understanding that ministerial service is a sacred trust—entrusted for a time, carried out with devotion, and ultimately returned with gratitude.
This sentiment echoes thoughts shared on 23 April 2006, prior to the retirement of District Apostle Saur and the ordination of his successor, District Apostle Ehrich. On that day, Chief Apostle Wilhelm Leber emphasized that ministry is neither granted nor withheld because of family connections. “The ministry is holy to us,” he stated, noting that much prayer had gone into ensuring the right decision.
A Lasting Bond with Ghana and West Africa
District Apostle Ehrich’s connection with Ghana began in August 2007, when he conducted his first divine services in Kumasi, Accra, and Mankessim. More than 8,300 members attended, demonstrating the strength and unity of the Church community. Reflecting on that visit, he expressed deep joy:
“I am truly delighted to get to know you all better.” Over nearly two decades of dedicated leadership, District Apostle Ehrich has left an unforgettable imprint on the Church in Ghana and across West Africa. His ministry has been marked by spiritual depth, unity, humility, and unwavering commitment. Among the significant milestones during his tenure are:
- The 50th Anniversary celebrations of the Church in Ghana
- The first National Youth Convention which hosted over 8,000 youth in Kumasi
- International youth engagements in Germany and Nigeria
- The historic visit of the Chief Apostle and all District Apostles to Ghana to convene for the District Apostles Conference
Affectionately known in Ghana as “Kwame”—a name bestowed upon him during the 2022 National Youth Convention—District Apostle Ehrich holds a special place in the hearts of members. His approachable leadership, warmth, and genuine concern for individuals have created strong bonds across congregations.
A Legacy that Endures
As he retires from active ministry, the Church in Ghana and West Africa expresses profound gratitude for District Apostle Ehrich’s years of faithful service. His legacy of faith, love, unity, and dedication will remain firmly etched in the history of the New Apostolic Church in the region. We wish him God’s abundant blessings as he enters this new chapter of life — one marked not by an ending, but by a continuation of grace, gratitude, and peace.
