On the evening of Saturday, March 28, 2026—the eve of the final farewell divine service—active and retired ministers of the New Apostolic Church gathered in Accra, Ghana, to celebrate the retirement of the Southern Germany District Apostle, Michael Ehrich.
The celebration was held at the outdoor premises of the East Legon congregation. The venue was beautifully prepared, featuring an elegant banquet arrangement set on artificial green grass. White tents adorned with orange fabric and warm string lights created a welcoming and memorable atmosphere.
Guests shared a meal at round tables in a warm, family‑style setting. Ministers and their spouses from various West African countries enriched the evening with musical presentations, taking turns to offer songs and performances. The program concluded with the gathering joining together to sing the hymn “God Be With You Till We Meet Again.”
Lead Apostle Oscar Nwanza (Nigeria) reflected on the hymn, sharing that he had once associated it with funerals. Over time, however, his perspective changed. He explained that, as children of God, believers do not fear death, and the hymn expresses hope — both for reunion here on earth and for eternal fellowship in heaven with the Lord.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of traditional Ghanaian attire to District Apostle Ehrich. The Ghanaian delegation presented them with the “Fugu,” also known as Batakari or the Ghanaian smock — a handwoven garment widely worn in the Northern part of Ghana, and in some countries across West Africa. The attire was warmly received, and District Apostle Ehrich wore the garments to the delight of all present.
Tributes were also presented in recognition of District Apostle Ehrich’s years of devoted service. Retired ministers in Ghana, led by Apostle (Retired) Afutu‑Kotei, presented a citation. A similar tribute had earlier been offered by the active ministers, led by Apostle (Retired) Nketia.
The evening was filled with heartfelt moments, joyful laughter, photographs, and farewell messages. District Apostle Ehrich expressed both gratitude and sadness, noting that this marked his final official visit to Ghana. The program concluded with a closing prayer offered in both English and French by Lead Apostle Yedenou (Benin & Togo).
The gathering ended with warm wishes and sincere appreciation for District Apostle Michael “Kwame” Ehrich along with the hope that they will return to visit West Africa — and Ghana — in the future.
