The Ho Central Youth Choir successfully hosted a reverent and inspiring Night of Music and Hymns to commemorate key events in the life of Jesus Christ: His Triumphal Entry, suffering, crucifixion, death, and resurrection. The programme was held on Saturday, 5th April, 2026, and was marked by excitement, devotion, and deep spiritual reflection.
Opening Ceremony
District Rector William Parku officially opened the evening with prayer and a warm welcome address, setting a tone of reverence and unity for the programme. The programme opened with a curtain-raiser performance of “Comfort Ye and Every Valley” by G.F. Handel (from Messiah), inspired by Isaiah 40:14. Brother Courage delivered the two pieces beautifully, encouraging the congregation with its message of comfort and hope.
Highlights
The evening also featured a series of Bible readings that traced Jesus Christ’s journey—from the promise of the coming King and His Triumphal Entry, through the Last Supper, suffering, crucifixion, and death, to the victory of His resurrection. The readings deepened the congregation’s understanding of the significance of these events. The choir ministered a selection of hymns and spiritual songs, including:
- Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me
- I Gave My Life for Thee
- The Old Rugged Cross
- Were You There
- There Is a Fountain
Each piece was rendered with heartfelt devotion, highlighting themes of salvation, sacrifice, and hope. Other songs performed included:
- Christ Arose
- Christ Is the Victor
- My Jesus Lives
- All Hail the Power of Jesus’ Name
- El’ Agbe Loo (He Is Alive)
Apostle’s Message
Apostle Richard Osei delivered a powerful message, reminding the congregation that everyone has a responsibility in the house of God. He emphasized that even when a person’s service is not immediately noticed by others, God sees and honours sincere hearts. Members were encouraged to serve faithfully, knowing that divine recognition is what truly matters.
Conclusion
The maiden Night of Music and Hymns organised by the Ho Central Youth Choir was spiritually uplifting and thoughtfully executed. By commemorating pivotal moments in Christ’s life, the programme fostered worship, reflection, and unity—and left many attendees encouraged in faith.
